Date Knight is a long-standing tradition at Carleton, which usually occurs during the 8th Week of the Fall trimester. Even though traditionally it involves setting up your roommate on a blind date, it’s turned into a flexible event where someone can sign-up their friends, roommates, or classmates to meet someone new and attend fun events led by various departments and student organizations. Past events have included dinners in the bottom of Cassat organized by Firebellies, gondola rides, a capella concerts, movie showings and more.
In the past, this event has been called “Screw Date” because of the rumor that if you receive screws in your mailbox, it meant that you’d been set up on a blind date by friends or roommates (Robinson 2018). This past year during COVID, DateKnight was pushed online so it could be accessible for students on and off campus.
