Domke’s Post Program Life

After returning to Carleton, Domke and Caton both graduated in 1940.

After graduation, Domke joined the army and went back to China as a member of United States Observation Group, also known as Dixie Mission. After the mission ended, he worked for the Department of State in various locations, including Japan and Hawaii.

According to Voice of the Carleton Alumni (1959), Domke and his family moved to Kobe, Japan (p. 29).

After his time in the East, Domke moved to Hawaii to be the Director of the State Department’s Reception Center (p. 28).

One year later, in 1966, Domke was appointed as the Dean of Admissions of a new liberal arts college called Hawaii Loa College (Voice of the Carleton alumni 1966 March 1st, Page 40).

According to Voice of the Carleton alumni published in 1978, Domke died in Hawaii (p. 52).
