The steps include researching, documenting, and digitally reconstructing Willis Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 1: Research and Planning<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Gathered historical information and photos of Willis Hall from Carleton sites and archives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organized all materials (images, documents, PDFs) into a shared Google Drive folder.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discussed project goals and decided which tools to use: PolyCam for indoor 360\u00b0 panoramas, Scaniverse for the exterior, ThingLink for interactive models, Flourish for the timeline, and WordPress for the website.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Created a project plan outlining each team member\u2019s responsibilities and the workflow for assembling the final product.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 2: Adjusting Project Focus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Learned from Professor Mason that the main renovations would focus on Willis Hall\u2019s interior.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decided to shift the project focus slightly from mainly exterior modeling to include detailed interior interactive experiences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Took inspiration from previous projects: the Weitz model (interactive floorplans) and a historical Faribault house tour (virtual indoor experience).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Planned to create an immersive tour that combines interior panoramas, floor plans, and historical information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 3: Capturing Materials<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Used PolyCam to take 360\u00b0 panoramas of Willis Hall\u2019s interior rooms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Used Scaniverse to create a detailed 3D \u201cSplat\u201d model of the exterior.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collected PDFs of the floor plans for each level of Willis Hall.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compiled historical dates and events to prepare entries for the Flourish timeline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 4: Building Interactive Models<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Uploaded interior panoramas to ThingLink and added interactive \u201chotspots\u201d for historical info and room descriptions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Linked floor plans to ThingLink so viewers could click on specific rooms to view the corresponding panoramas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepared the exterior Scaniverse model for embedding into the website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 5: Creating the Timeline<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Entered historical information into Flourish, structuring entries by date and adding images.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensured the timeline was interactive and visually aligned with the website design.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 6: Assembling the Website<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Set up WordPress with a chosen theme and basic structure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Embedded the Flourish timeline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Added descriptive write-ups to explain each feature of the site.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After a solid draft of website was formed, created a Pecha Kucha-style slide show for our in-class presentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 7: Troubleshooting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Worked with Professor Mason to obtain the proper licensing to embed the ThingLink virtual tour.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Uploaded the Scaniverse splat scan into Polycam to clean and refine the model before embedding it into the website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 8: Finalizing and Reviewing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tested all interactive components to ensure they worked properly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Made final edits to the website layout and annotations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepared the project for submission, ensuring all materials were accessible and organized.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following steps outline the process our group followed for this project.
