The first step was getting approval from the Northfield Historical Society to take drone and interior footage of the bank. After that Byron contacted Carleton’s FAA-certified drone pilot. Together they took footage of the building and the surrounding streets.
Then Byron and Bridger used the app Matterport to create a 3D rendering of the interior. Byron followed a procedure of taking scans 5-10 feet away from the last scan to capture a continuous image.
Byron passed the SD card with the drone footage to Evelyn, who processed it through the program Metashape, a photogrammetry pipeline software that renders 3D GIS spatial data from video footage. Grace and Frances researched the historical information and created a timeline of the failed bank heist. Byron then put this information into interactive text pop-ups within Matterport and ArcGIS story map software.
All of this was then put into this very website which Matthew help set up. Matthew then pitched in cleaning up the awesome information and products that everyone helped load into the various pages on the site.
