National Alzheimer's Buddies seeks to alleviate the isolation and social disengagement
experienced by Alzheimer's patients living in long-term care facilities. The Carleton chapter
addresses this issue locally. Through weekly one-on-one visits to Three Links nursing home in
Northfield, students compromise the dehumanizing effects of Alzheimer's disease on the individual
and build a lasting and empathetic relationship with their buddy.
