Plant Awareness Disparity
Sources
This project draws on archival materials, interviews, and direct observation to document the presence of plants inside Carleton campus buildings. These sources provide historical context as well as information about how plants have been distributed and maintained in campus spaces.
Carleton College Archives
Historical photographs from the Carleton College Archives were used to provide context for how plants have appeared in campus buildings over time.

Interview
Randall Hagen
An interview with Randall Hagen provided historical information about the greenhouse and the distribution of plants across campus buildings. The interview also explained how renovations and changes in building design have affected the presence of plants on campus.
Campus Observation
Plant locations and plant types were documented through direct observation of plants located inside several Carleton buildings. These observations were used to identify common indoor plants and record their locations across campus.
