This telegraph is a short notice to an unknown audience, though presumably either Carleton or someone close to Reynolds, that describes her move to Foochow and her future travels with George Newell, her soon to be husband. This notice provides us with the date of her wedding and her official appointment as a missionary, no longer a teacher.

Apr. 24. 1906.

“Mr. Newell telegraphed me last week that I have been appointed as a missionary by the board. He had written before that there was a cottage at the mountain which we could get and if I was appointed early enough it would be perfectly safe and comfortable to go down then for the summer. I am very glad as it will give me a chance to meet many people near whom I shall live when we go down into the city to work. 

– We are to be married June 4th. After the wedding we go by rail to Han Kan (36 hrs), there 3 days …

Up the Yantze river to Shanghai. Then a few days shopping and by coast steamer, for ten day to FooChow.
